Face Coverings/Masks Update

24th September 2020

Dear Parent/Carer,

RE: Face covering/mask update

I would like to thank you and your child for your cheery cooperation and acceptance of wearing face covering/masks on site. This additional measure has been met with a sense of relief by many and has led to an increased sense of safety and confidence by all on site.

However, I am writing to ask for your help. Over the last 2 weeks we have distributed nearly 1000 disposable masks to students who have forgotten, or lost, or broken their own masks. This is not sustainable either financially or in terms of finding supplies. Therefore, we have purchased a supply of navy-blue plain fabric face masks that will be available to purchase for £1.00. These will be available from the main reception or Year group Leaders.

Please support us by ensuring your child has a mask to bring into the academy every day. This really does need to become a part of their every day equipment, a part of their academy uniform from Monday 28th September. If a child arrives to the academy without a mask then they will need to buy a fabric mask, this can be paid for in cash or on ParentPay.

If you do not have a ParentPay account, please email parentpay@leighcademy.org.uk. No student will be discriminated against on the inability to pay.

Thank you in advance for your support in keeping our community safe.

Yours faithfully,

Julia Collins
Principal
