We are writing about the Year 7 Assessment fortnight, starting on Monday 18th January 2021. These are an opportunity for students to formally demonstrate what they have learnt and know as a result of the teaching they have received, as well as supporting them to ‘fix’ crucial knowledge needed for the next stage of learning.
During this week students will be tested on the knowledge and skills they have acquired since September. They will complete an assessment in each subject and their teachers will give them details of what will be covered and in which lesson(s) during the week, the assessment for their subject will take place.
The grades achieved in these assessments will be the basis for grades reported to parents in their first data report in Module 3. These grades will also be used to check the progress that students are making towards their IB MYP (International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme) targets.
Further information about assessment can be found in the Assessment section of the academy website and will be added to the Year 7 Google Classroom.
Please encourage your child to ensure they know exactly what they will be tested on and to spend appropriate time learning and revising for these assessments. Students also have the opportunity to revise at the daily homework club at the end of the academy day during the first week of Module 3.
