Dear Parent/Carer

Re: Collection of Year 11 Revision Guides and Workbooks

I am pleased to be able to inform you that before this lockdown we ordered revision guides and workbooks for Mathematics, Science, Business and PE and are now in a position to be able to distribute certain revision guides and workbooks to every Year 11 student at The Leigh Academy.

We believe that having the use of a paper copy of certain revision guides and workbooks at home will be invaluable in supporting your son/daughter in their studies throughout this year.  Despite the ongoing uncertainty of when students will return to the academy, there is still the likelihood that they will sit some assessments before a Centre Assessed Grade is submitted this summer.  These extra resources will help them prepare for that, and also build their overall knowledge of their subjects, further preparing them for their studies and career beyond Year 11.

It will mean that he/she can access examination style questions without a computer to prepare them for the written examination questions, especially for Mathematics and Science.  There is no cost to you as the parent, but we would like the following books to be returned after revision and any assessments we complete by the end of this year:

  • The Knowledge Organiser booklet from the Knowledge Organiser/Retriever Bundle for Science
  • The revision question cards/flash cards (these are boxed): 75 of these (25 per science).
  • GCSE PE books
  • How to Revise for GCSE: Study Skills & Planner (this is a book to help with revision strategies and techniques)

Your child can come to collect their Revision Guides this Friday, 29th January or next Wednesday, 3rd February, depending which college they belong to, during these times:

Friday 29th January

10.00 – 11.00

Darwin College

13.30 – 14.30

Chaucer College

Wednesday 3rd February

10.00 – 11.00

Brunel College

11.15 – 12.15

DaVinci College

It is important that students respect and maintain Covid secure measures when they come to collect their resources and we therefore request students comply with the following guidelines as much as possible.

  • Wear a face covering at all times when on the academy premises.
  • Wait outside the main entrance of the academy where the books will be brought to you.
  • Avoid social mixing with other students, maintaining a 2m distance from everyone at all times.
  • Try and avoid using public transport.  Walk or use a family car, if that is an option.

There will also be the opportunity for students to collect new exercise books too – both the lined and squared (mathematics) versions as well as art sketchbooks will be available.

We hope you and your family are all well and coping with lockdown as well as you can and if you have any questions about the collecting of resources then please contact Mrs Grozdanic on

Yours faithfully
