RE: Year 9 Parent Teacher Virtual Appointments
On Wednesday 10th of February, you will have the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with their subject teachers, during the Year 9 parent/carers day. The parent/teacher meetings are an important part of your child’s education and you will be able to discuss how your child is performing in each of their subjects, with their subject teacher. This may also help you and your child as they make their GCSE option choices that week.
In light of the current pandemic, The Leigh Academy is not in a position to offer face-to-face appointments, however we are able to offer video appointments via School Cloud, an online platform specialising in communication between parents/carers and school teachers. The appointments will take place between 9.15am and 6.30pm and are five minutes long. Time slots are self-booked and are on a first come first served basis. Bookings will open on Wednesday 3rd February at 12.00pm. If you are unable to operate video meetings, please contact your child’s subject teacher so that other arrangements can be made
Details of how to access School Cloud and book your appointments can be found here . On the afternoon of the appointment, simply attend by following the guide here. If after following the instructions, you experience technical difficulties with setting up your appointment, please do not hesitate to contact firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be of assistance.
On the day of the appointments, work will not be set online for Year 9 students to allow them to attend the virtual meetings with you, ensuring that they have access to the most pertinent information to assist in making their decisions for their option subjects. The Year 9 Live Tutor session at 8.30am-9.00am will take place as usual, however, to ensure that your child has the maximum amount of support in making their options choices.
As this is the first time that we have used School Cloud to conduct parent/teacher appointments, we would ask that you bear with us if unforeseen circumstances arise, however we will endeavour to ensure that this process runs as smoothly as possible.
I hope that you find the opportunity to meet with your child’s teachers and tutor useful, I know that staff are looking forward to meeting virtually with you.
