Year 11 GCSE and BTEC Results Day – Thursday 12th August 2021

Three male Leigh Academy students painting together in an Art class.

Dear Parents, Carers & Students,

I hope that this letter finds you and your family safe and well.  It has been lovely to have so many students in over the last few weeks for the Post-16 Induction and Google Training.  We are now planning for your results and enrolment day in August.  I have again shared below links to the OFQUAL & JCQ processes for awarding the Teacher Assessed Grades for this year, along with the academy Teacher Assessed Grades policy.

JCQ Guide for Parents & Students

Vocational Qualifications Overview

The Leigh Academy Teacher Assessed Grades Policy

We really would like to be able to give you your results in person, and as such have decided to invite students in, but with provisions in place to ensure that we allow social distancing and carefully follow the government guidelines at the time.  You can also choose to have your results posted, if you wish, but you will not be able to attend the site if you choose to do so.  Results day normally has three broad goals – to gather and celebrate results, and to provide reassurance, support and guidance for students who require it in relation to results and next steps, as well as enrolling for Post-16 with us.

GCSE and BTEC Results Day – Thursday 12th August 2021

We will allow students to choose whether they wish to attend to collect their results in the academy, or have them posted.

In order to remain “COVID-Secure”, we will be staggering the arrival times, and these will stretch from 9:30am-11:00am.  The outline of the timetable for this is below, and the actual time to attend will be confirmed as soon as we have confirmation of numbers:

Time of Arrival College
9:30am Darwin
10:00am Da Vinci
10:30am Brunel
11:00am Chaucer

Every student will be offered a face-to-face meeting after the results day to discuss your destination options.  Where appropriate one parent will be invited to attend under “COVID-Secure” conditions, which will be shared with you nearer to the day.  As confirmed previously, students will have the opportunity to appeal their results.  To help you understand the services available to you, we have developed a simplified guide on these post-results services, which can be downloaded here.

As a first step, can I ask you all to complete this form and indicate whether you wish to attend the academy or not, on results day.  Please complete this by Friday 9th July.  If we do not hear from you, we will assume that you wish to receive them by post.

We are currently waiting to hear from OFQUAL about the facilitation of an Autumn examination series that would provide the students with the opportunity to re-sit any examinations.  We will update you as soon as we have information about the process.

Yours faithfully,

Sarah Forde
