Year 12 Mock Examinations 2022

Dear Parents/Carers,

The Year 12 Mock examinations period is scheduled for Monday 20th June – Friday 1st July 2022.

Students will only be taking internal mock examinations in subjects where they have not taken real public exams (such as LIBF and BTEC qualifications) or other major assessments that contribute to final grades (such as coursework completion within A Level or IB subjects).

Each of these examinations will be no more than 1 hour and 45 minutes in duration, and we will be scheduling exactly when subject mock examinations will be within this window. Subject Leaders will communicate both the timing and topic lists via Google Classroom nearer the time.

These examinations offer the students the opportunity to develop their technique, whilst demonstrating their knowledge and understanding of the subject content studied throughout this academic year. Module 5 is an ideal opportunity for your child to review in-year assessments, act on targets, and practise examination questions through a structured revision programme, which should enable them to do well in their Year 12 examinations.

The Module 4 Year 12 report will have helped your child to identify areas within the curriculum, in both attainment and effort, on which they must focus. I encourage you to work with your child to construct a meaningful revision rota. They will be able to access revision material through their subject Google classrooms, and past papers with their mark schemes through examination board websites. The Year 12 mock examinations will provide us with a clear picture of your child’s attainment and progress so that we can accurately reflect on how to address the challenges they will face in Year 13.

The results of these mock examinations will be shared with parents and carers during the last week of the summer term. In line with our Assessment and Reporting calendar, your son/daughter will be issued with their current grades for all of their Post 16 subjects at this point.

Throughout this period of revision and preparation for these mock examinations, the academy strongly recommends that your child continues with their extra-curricular pursuits, and endeavours to balance revision with sleep, exercise, and a healthy diet throughout the remainder of their Year 12 studies. We understand that preparing for mock examinations could cause worry for some of our students, so please do remind your son/daughter to talk initially to their subject teacher or form tutor if they have any concerns.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Post-16 leadership team if you have any further queries.

Yours faithfully,

Sarah Forde
