This is a great course to give you the knowledge, skills and training to become an IT specialist. It provides the opportunity to go into employment in the IT sector or to progress to higher qualifications in Computing and ICT at university. You’ll develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in your working life as an IT professional. The BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma is broadly equivalent to one A Level and attracts similar UCAS Points.
This course is designed to allow learners to gain a nationally recognised career specific qualification to either progress on to further study at higher education or directly enter employment in the ICT sector. It is a two-year vocational course. All tasks are of a practical based nature, with all the work carried out being of the same nature as the type of work used in real businesses.
You’ll need to have a good set of GCSE results, including Maths and English at grade C or above, as well as an IT qualification such as GCSE ICT at grade C or above. It’s important you have a real desire to investigate IT systems and develop your skills.
There are no examinations during this course, it is 100% coursework/assessment based. Therefore, the ability to manage your workload and meet deadlines is vitally important. At the end of each module of skills building you will be assessed and graded via submitted assessments and you will be awarded a Pass, Merit or Distinction grade for each. When all your units are completed, you will be awarded an overall Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction* BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in IT, equivalent to an A Level grade E, C, A or A* respectively.

The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in ICT enables learners to achieve the following for UCAS points (Distinction*-140, Distinction-120, Merit-80, Pass-40). The course will benefit any student that wishes to pursue ICT further, and progress to a university degree or to employment.
