Here at The Leigh Academy, we encourage local employers to spend time raising the aspirations of our students. We have found that engaging students with real-time employers has a transformative effect on the outcome of our young people.
There are benefits for both our students and employers, our students learn of the progression routes into industries, the skills and attributes needed for various job roles, including the transferable skills they can take away from just being at school. The employer engagement also raises aspirations and inspires their future. Our employer’s benefit from ensuring the future workforce is knowledgeable of the skills needed in an ever-changing world, as well as building relationships with our school and reaching their corporate social responsibility goals.
The evidence clearly shows that a young person who has 4 or more encounters with an employer is 86% less likely to be unemployed or not in education or training, and can earn up to 18% more during their career.
The Careers and Enterprise Company
How can you help?
Employer engagement can take many forms and we welcome and encourage unique and creative suggestions. In-person assemblies, held in our lecture theatre, along with virtual-live talks, career fairs, workshops, work experience placements and visits are the backbone of our careers programme and we wish to offer a further range of events throughout the academic year.
If you would like to discuss and build a relationship with The Leigh Academy, please do not hesitate to contact us.
