SPARX Homework for Science

Three students holding a molecule model and using it as a learning tool.

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are excited to let you know that we have partnered with SPARX to start using their new Science homework platform, SPARX Science. From Monday 26th February your child will be using SPARX Science to complete weekly homework.

Your child’s homework will be set on Monday and due on Sunday every week. SPARX Science helps every student to achieve success in Science.

How do they log in?

  • Students log in at sparxscience.com. They will need to select their school (The Leigh Academy) and log in using their SPARX Mathematics details.

What devices are supported?

  • Your child can access SPARX Science on any device that connects to the internet with a web browser.

How can I support my child with their homework?

  • SPARX Science adapts to each student’s ability level, so it is important that you do not help too much, e.g. by answering questions for them. This can lead to SPARX giving homework that is too long or hard in future.
  • We recommend letting students answer each question themselves and you can give help if they are stuck with the support and follow-up questions.
  • You can also help to provide a quiet space for your child to focus on their homework each week.

How can I monitor my child’s homework?

  • You are able to keep track of the homework your child is doing by clicking through the link to the Parent Portal in your SPARX weekly homework email.
  • On the Parent Portal, you can choose to view homework progress for any SPARX learning system your child is using.

What support is available at The Leigh Academy?

  • Students can talk to their Science teachers before or after school if they need help.
  • Students can talk to Mr Mills in the morning on the Curie first floor plaza if they need to borrow a Chromebook.
