Year 12 Strike Action Arrangements

Two Post-16 students are shown collaborating on some work on a computer with smiles on their faces.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Further to my previous correspondence last week, you will be aware that the National Education Union (NEU) is planning to continue with its industrial action. The next strike days will take place on Wednesday 5th July 2023 and Friday 7th July 2023. I am writing to give you a breakdown of how this will impact your child each day.

All Year 12 students should continue to attend the academy in person on Friday 7th July in business dress, as per their usual timetable. All students should also bring their Chromebook fully charged. We have decided to prioritise these year groups due to the important examinations that they are due to take place.

Year 12 students should attend the academy at the following times:

Year 12 students should remain at home and work virtually via Google Classroom and Google Meet.

Year 12 students to arrive by 8:30am and attend a college assembly in the Lecture Theatre, before at attending their usual timetabled lessons, including Directed Study.

Students who arrive at school to find that their teacher is on strike are asked to work in the Attenborough College study area, either completing work for their subjects, completing the first draft of their Personal Statement or undertaking research into their preferred Post-18 options. Attenborough College staff will be on hand to provide support all day.

If you have any questions or concerns about the alternative arrangements outlined above, please contact the Attenborough College Administrator, Mrs Howell, on 01322-620439.

As always, thank you for your support and understanding during this time.

Yours sincerely,

Julia Collins
Principal
